January Update

It's been a busy January! We are still awaiting bank approval for the new land, so we partnered up with Residencia de Vida (Residence of Life) children's home run by Cherie McCullah for our January teams. Cherie and her kids just moved to San Isidro a couple months before we did and we are happy to help our new neighbors.

Construction Updates

After the Macomb, IL team spruced up our team lodging, the Minnesotan's came out in full force again this year with a team from Detroit Lakes followed by a multi-church UMVIM team from the Minnesota Annual Conference. These teams brought our total volunteer count up to 51 for January. What a great start to the year!

The team from Detroit Lakes started the project at the children's home by clearing out their storage area to make room to build bathrooms with showers to use for a team space for Cherie's future volunteers. They also helped organize her donations area and some of the storage spaces that had not been addressed since her move. The group also helped setup some Christmas presents including the pool and basketball goal. They also got some gardening done and had a great time playing with the kiddos!

and bust up the concrete for the water lines
By the end of the week, there were 2 shower stalls and 2 toilet stalls
It was fun to have a chance to work alongside Cherie's kids
The Minnesota conference UMVIM team picked up at Cherie's where Great Lakes left off and continued putting up the walls of the bathrooms. They also are working on a mural in the kids Gym to spruce the place up. We also had some projects at the Strong Mission campus where a team of sewer's worked diligently making curtains for Cherie's new house, tablecloths and appliance covers for our kitchen, aprons, dresses, baby bibs, and more. We also brought up more desks from the School in Carrillos to be repaired and put the carpentry crew to work refurbishing them.

Loaves and Fishes Current Needs

We are working to implement additional sports and fine arts programs with our Loaves and Fishes ministries. We are in need of new soccer balls, soccer uniforms, musical instruments, and karate uniforms for children and youth. Please contact us at info@strongmissions.com if you would like to help with this ministry. Your monetary donations to the Loaves and Fishes programs are always appreciated as well. It costs about $30 to feed a child for a month, so every dollar counts!
